Global Engineering Company
A global engineering business engaged with PLS Lighting asking for a review of their existing lighting and for a proposal of a solution that would reduce the energy consumption, CO2 usage and maintenance costs whilst providing an improved lighting environment.
A comprehensive audit of the premises was undertaken and, using the information collated, the existing equipment, energy usage and potential savings were identified. Using the audit data, PLS’ trained designers used dedicated lighting software to create a solution tailored to the requirements of the client, ensuring that recommended guidelines for lux levels, glare and uniformity were achieved.
The PLS Lighting solution comprised of highly efficient LED luminaires and, where applicable, incorporated intelligent technologies to deliver further savings based on occupancy and daylight harvesting.
Due to the operation patterns of the business, PLS’ engineers worked around the client to ensure that no disruption or downtime was incurred.
The health and safety requirements of the project were significant as the works fell under the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations. Throughout the process, PLS Lighting ensured that they were compliant, providing risk assessment and method statement documentation, in line with the relevant legislation, and liaised with the client’s health and safety personnel and CDM co-ordinators. The provision of relevant documentation and effective, regular communication regarding the health and safety process ensured a seamless and incident free installation.
